WCW: Mike Sanders

Ring name(s) Mike Sanders "Above Average"
Billed height 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)
Billed weight 225 lb (102 kg)
Born July 20, 1969
Atlanta, Georgia
Trained by Paul Orndorff at the WCW Power Plant
Pro Wrestling Debut 1998

Mike Sanders (born July 20, 1969 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American professional wrestler and stand-up comedian, formerly working with WWA, TNA and WCW.

Before becoming a wrestler, Mike Sanders was a Communications Officer in the United States Army. Sanders trained at the WCW Power Plant before debuting in WCW in June 2000 as the mouthpiece of the Natural Born Thrillers. In 2000, he defeated Ernest "The Cat" Miller to become the WCW Commissioner, and abused his power to the advantage of the Thrillers.

When WCW was purchased by the WWF in March 2001, Sanders' contract was acquired as part of the deal. Sanders was sent to the Cincinnati, Ohio based Heartland Wrestling Association, then a WWF developmental territory, where he formed a tag team with Lance Cade. Sanders was the booker in HWA and his progress impressed WWF management. However, according to Raven, Sanders demise started when he was in the locker room at a WWE event shortly after Triple H tore his quad. Locker room etiquette in wrestling requires you to go up to everyone and introduce yourself. Triple H was in attendance, on crutches. Sanders did not go up to him and introduce himself. Raven believes that this basically threw all the progress he made within the eyes of WWF management out the window. He was released by the WWF in 2002.

Sanders was hired by the World Wrestling All-Stars promotion in late 2002 and toured Europe as the onscreen commissioner of the promotion. In January 2003 he joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. He was released in August 2003.

In 2004, Sanders started wrestling for Georgia Championship Wrestling and Universal Championship Wrestling.

Sanders still wrestles occasionally, but has not been working a regular schedule. Sanders returned to the ring on February 20, 2005 in Vince Russo's Ring Of Glory, where he and Disco Inferno defeated Adam Jacobs and Johnny Swinger who was known in WWE as Johnny Parisi.

Sanders now also works as a stand up comedian in Orlando, Florida.

WCW: Tex Slazinger

Dennis Knight, born December 26, 1968 in Biggers, Arkansas, is an American professional wrestler best known for his appearances with the WWF as Phineas I. Godwinn and Mideon.

While working as a bouncer in Clearwater, Florida, in 1989, Dennis Knight was introduced to Steve Keirn, who trained him as a professional wrestler. He debuted in the same year using the name Tex Slazinger, facing his stepfather in his first match. When Slazinger signed with the United States Wrestling Association he was given a Leatherface gimmick based on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre character complete with “bloodstained” apron, leather mask and chainsaw (without the chain though). He was pushed as a “Monster” into a program with Jerry Lawler. During one infamous match between the two Slazinger was set on fire in a pre-planned stunt. Despite being briefly engulfed in flames after a fireball by Jerry Lawler (and gasoline being squirted on Slazinger’s apron) he walked away without a scratch because of his thick clothing. After dropping the Leatherface gimmick Tex teamed up with Mark Canterbury who wrestled as the masked “Master Blaster”.

Slazenger was later hired by WCW alongside the Master Blaster who was renamed “Shanghai Pierce” The team was dubbed "The Texicans" by color commentator Jesse Ventura. They remained with the promotion until 1994 without achieving much success.

When both men left WCW, Canterbury would sign with the WWF, and renamed "Henry Godwinn" while Slazinger returned to the USWA. In the USWA Slazinger captured the USWA Southern Title on two occasions, defeating Brian Christopher both times.

In 1996, Knight was reunited with Canterbury, and then renamed Phineas I. Godwinn when he signed with the WWF. The duo were portrayed as being cousins and were collectively known as The Godwinns. Over the following two years, The Godwinns held the WWF World Tag Team Championship on two occasions and were managed by Cletus Godwinn, Hillbilly Jim and Sunny.

In 1997, in a match between The Godwinns and the Legion of Doom, Canterbury suffered a cracked C7 vertebra when the Legion of Doom botched a Doomsday Device. He was advised by doctors to rest for 15 weeks, but returned to the ring in less than eight weeks. Later that year, the Godwinns dropped their pig farmer gimmicks and became "Southern Justice", the bodyguards of Tennessee Lee. Six months later, Canterbury herniated his C7 vertebra and pinched a spinal nerve, necessitating spinal fusion surgery. This came as a result of him returning to the ring too early after his neck injury. He evenutally left the WWF and retired, due to the neck injury suffered in 1997 leaving Knight without a partner.

In early 1999 Knight returned to the WWF as Mideon, a deranged soothsayer. He was kidnapped by the Acolytes and brainwashed into joining The Ministry of Darkness, a heel stable led by The Undertaker. Throughout 1999, The Ministry would feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin, with Knight often teaming up with Viscera. Knight "won" the European Championship in this time when he found it in Shane McMahon's bag. When The Undertaker was injured in late 1999, the Ministry disbanded, and Knight was once again removed from television, reappearing briefly as a Mankind imitator.

Knight returned in a limited capacity in 2000 as Naked Mideon, a comedy character who would run around arenas wearing only a thong. At No Mercy 2000 he tried to reclaim the European Championship from William Regal, but was defeated. Knight then wrestled in a few dark matches under his previous moniker Tex Slazenger, but was eventually released on good terms.

Knight appeared at the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling event TNA Destination X 2005 on March 13, 2005 during the scheduled match between Monty Brown and Trytan. In the course of the match, the lights went off and Trytan vanished from the ring. When the lights came on, a masked Knight was in his place, and was quickly pinned by Brown. In March 2006, Knight wrestled several dark matches for World Wrestling Entertainment under his own name.

He has been an influence to the talent at FSPW, one of the leading independent wrestling federations in Florida.

Retirement: 1999
Previous identities: Mr. Saito, Masa Saito
Masanori Saito is a former Japanese professional wrestler better known as Mr. Saito or Masa Saito.
Saito competed in freestyle wrestling for his native land of Japan in the 1964 Olympic Games, (placing 7th).

He began his pro-wrestling career shortly after the games and quickly established himself as a talented grappler in both Japan and the United States.

Saito held numerous titles while wrestling in Japan. He also competed in the WWF where he won the WWF Tag Team Championship with Mr. Fuji and in the AWA where he defeated Larry Zbyszko for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship in front of a hometown crowd of 65,000 people at the Tokyo Dome in February 1990. He would lose the title 2 months later in a rematch with Zbyszko at SuperClash 4.

Saito made sporadic appearances in the US during the 1990's wrestling almost exclusively in Japan. Saito retired from wrestling in 1999. Saito is suffering from the onset of diabetes and is reported to be in poor health.

On April 6, 1984, Saito and fellow wrestler Ken Patera went to a McDonald's in Waukesha, Wisconsin that had closed for the night. When they were refused service, Patera threw a boulder through the front window. When police showed up at the Holiday Inn where the wrestlers were staying, a brawl broke out between the grapplers and the officers. In June 1985, Patera was convicted on two counts of battery on a police officer and one count of criminal damage to property. Saito was convicted on three counts of battery on a police officer and one count of obstructing a peace officer. Both men were sentenced to two years in prison.

In 1990, they went to the NWA's Jim Crockett Promotions which had been purchased by Ted Turner and would be renamed WCW before they left a few months later. They feuded with Rick and Scott Steiner over the U.S. Tag Team Titles but could not defeat them. In early 1991, they went to the WWF where they were managed by Jimmy Hart and won the World Tag Team Titles from The Hart Foundation before feuding with and losing the titles to the Road Warriors.

WCW: Sabu

Terry Michael Brunk (born December 12, 1964) is an American pro wrestler, better known by his ring name, Sabu. Sabu is currently signed to WWE wrestling on its ECW brand. He is perhaps best-known for his appearances with ECW throughout the 1990s, where he developed his high-risk hardcore wrestling technique.

Sabu appeared on WCW and won two of his three matches in 1995 against Mr. JL and Disco Inferno. Sabu kayfabe "went against the script" by defeating Alex Wright, only to have the ruling reversed by disqualification when he continued to fight after the bell. WCW did not like his violent style and unwillingness to lose a match, and thus did not offer Sabu a long-term contract. Sabu was the first wrestler to dive off the entrance sign during an episode of RAW on February 24, 1997, while WWE and ECW were cross-promoting. He had actually lost his balance before diving off, but managed to reposition himself in mid-air to land on Team Taz.

WCW signed Sabu to a contract in 2000, but legal action threatened by ECW precluded Sabu from ever making an appearance before WCW's demise. From 2000 to 2001, he had a successful run in California's XPW, which catapulted him back into the national spotlight after Paul Heyman had tried to prevent him from working outside of ECW by actually suing him in court for breach of contract, when---as it turned out---Heyman was actually the one who had breached Sabu's contract.

WCW: "Ravishing" Rick Rude

Richard Erwin Rood (December 7, 1958 – April 20, 1999), better known by his ring name of "Ravishing" Rick Rude (which Rood would legally change his name to), was a pro wrestler who performed for many promotions, most notably WCW and the WWF, in the 1980s and 1990s.

Born in St. Peter, Minnesota, Rood attended Robbinsdale High School in Robbinsdale, Minnesota with Tom Zenk, Brady Boone, Nikita Koloff, Curt Hennig, John Nord and Barry Darsow, all of whom would become pro wrestlers of some repute.

After graduating from Anoka Ramsey Junior College with a degree in Physical Education, Rood began wrestling in 1983 as Ricky Rood, a babyface jobber. He started with Vancouver's NWA All Star Wrestling before moving on to compete for Georgia Championship Wrestling and later Memphis-based Mid-Southern Wrestling. He later left and joined the National Wrestling Alliance affiliate Jim Crockett Promotions where he and a variety of tag team partners feuded with The Road Warriors. He returned to Memphis Championship Wrestling in 1984, this time as "Ravishing" Rick Rude, an overconfident, arrogant heel managed by Jimmy Hart. Rude feuded with Jerry Lawler and later his former partner, King Kong Bundy.

Rude was hired by Championship Wrestling From Florida in December 1984 where he was managed by Percy Pringle and feuded with Billy Jack Haynes and Wahoo McDaniel, while teaming with Jesse Barr. After a year, he jumped to World Class Championship Wrestling along with Pringle, where he feuded with Kevin Von Erich and Chris Adams. After losing the WCCW Championship to Adams in July 1986, he fired Pringle and briefly replaced him with his sister, Raven. He formed a short-lived tag team with The Dingo Warrior, but the Warrior turned on him and became a face.

In September 1986, Rude returned to Jim Crockett Promotions and joined Manny Fernandez and his manager Paul Jones in their rivalry with Wahoo McDaniel. Rude and Fernandez won the NWA World Tag Team Championships on December 6, 1986 from the Rock 'N Roll Express, and began an epic feud that ended only when Rude left the promotion for the WWF in April 1987. To explain the sudden departure, Jim Crockett, Jr. aired a pre-taped non-title match where the Express defeated Rude and Fernandez and claimed that Rude had been injured as a result.

In the WWF, Rude was managed by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and feuded with "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff before starting one of his most famous feuds with Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Rude had a routine where before the match he would make a show of removing his robe while running down the males in the crowd and after the match he would kiss a girl (that Heenan picked from the fans) all the way down to the mat after a successful match. On one occasion, he tried to get Roberts' real-life wife, Cheryl, to comply, aggravating Roberts. On another memorable occasion during the Roberts/Rude feud, Rude came to the ring with a picture of Cheryl stenciled on the front of his tights. A furious Roberts charged the ring and stripped Rude, appearing (to the television viewer) to leave him naked (the live audience saw him stripped to a thong instead).

Rude's next big feud was with The Ultimate Warrior and began in January 1989 at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in a "posing contest" that ended with Rude attacking Warrior with a metal pose bar. With a little help from Heenan, Rude won the Intercontinental Championship from the Warrior at WrestleMania V, before dropping it back to the Warrior at SummerSlam 1989 due in large part to interference from "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Rude then feuded with Piper, before resuming his conflict with the Warrior in the summer of 1990 after the Warrior had won the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. The two battled in a cage at SummerSlam 1990, in the only Pay-Per-View Rude would ever headline as a solo wrestler. Rude failed to win the title and departed the WWF in October 1990 right before he was scheduled to feud with the Big Boss Man (which had its potential start when Rude started to make degrading comments about the Bossman's mother).

Rude returned to Jim Crockett Promotions, now known as World Championship Wrestling, as The Halloween Phantom at Halloween Havoc on October 27, 1991, unmasking himself later that night. He founded and led The Dangerous Alliance, consisting of himself, Paul E. Dangerously, Madusa, Arn Anderson, Bobby Eaton, Larry Zbyszko and "Stunning" Steve Austin. Rude won the United States Championship from Sting and feuded with Ricky Steamboat, at one point breaking his nose in a gang attack.

In 1992, Rude and Madusa left The Dangerous Alliance and feuded with Nikita Koloff. Rude challenged reigning World Heavyweight Champion Ron Simmons on several occasions but did not defeat him. He was injured in December of that year and was forced to forfeit the United States Championship. Rude returned alone in April 1993 and tried to reclaim the title from Dustin Rhodes, who had won it while he was injured. The title was eventually held up after several controversial finishes to matches between the two.

Rude switched his sights to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, making his intentions clear on August 28, 1993, when he was the guest on then-champion Ric Flair's "A Flair For the Gold" talk segment. Rude went on to defeat Flair for the title in September 1993 at Fall Brawl. However, as WCW had recently withdrawn from the NWA, the title could no longer be called the NWA World Heavyweight Championship (WCW had purchased the belt itself, however). The title was renamed the WCW International Championship, which Rude lost to Hiroshi Hase on March 16, 1994 in Tokyo, Japan. Rude regained the title just eight days later in Kyoto, Japan. After dropping the title to Sting on April 17, Rude pinned Sting on May 1 in Fukuoka to become a three time champion. However, Rude injured his back during the match; unable to wrestle, he was stripped of the title (with the storyline excuse that he was found to have used the title belt as a weapon in the course of the match). Rude retired shortly after.

Rude collected on an insurance policy and did not compete in wrestling again until 1997, when he joined Extreme Championship Wrestling as a masked man who harassed Shane Douglas, at one point spanking Francine. He eventually unmasked and became a color commentator. He would later align himself, for a short time, with Shane Douglas and his Triple Threat. During the ECW versus USWA / WWF inter-company competition, Rude helped Jerry "The King" Lawler defeat ECW mainstays Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman.

Rude appeared on both RAW is WAR and WCW Monday Nitro on November 17, 1997. A more clean-shaven Rude appeared on Nitro, which was live, and proceeded to criticize the WWF, calling the company the "Titanic" (a reference to Titan Enterprises, as the WWF's parent company was then known as the "sinking ship"). An hour later on RAW (which had been taped six days earlier), Rude then appeared with a beard. Rude also appeared on ECW's Hardcore TV during that weekend (November 14-16 as the show was syndicated differently depending on the market). Rude was still making ECW appearances while in D-Generation X.

Rude became a member of the New World Order, managing his friend Curt Hennig. When the nWo split, Hennig and Rude joined the nWo Wolfpac and tried to motivate Konnan to defeat Goldberg, who was undefeated at the time. When Konnan was defeated by Goldberg, Rude and Hennig attacked him, later joining nWo Hollywood, the rivals of the Wolfpac. By late 1998, both Rude and Hennig were off WCW TV due to injuries. Hennig had an ongoing leg injury that year, and Rude had testicular cancer. However Rude's cancer was not life threatening. Curt Hennig returned to the nWo from his injury at Starrcade '98 without Rude, who was still unable to appear on WCW. Rude was rumored to be training for a full time comeback to active wrestling in early 1999.

Rude died on April 20, 1999 after suffering heart failure. The believed cause of death may have been an overdose of Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) and steroids. An autopsy report showed he died from an overdose of "mixed medications". In 1994 he testified that he had used anabolic steroids to build muscle mass and relieve joint pain.

WCW:Jacques Rougeau

Jacques Rougeau (born June 13, 1960) is a French-Canadian professional wrestler from Saint-Sulpice, Quebec, best known for his appearances in the 1980s and 1990s with the World Wrestling Federation under his own name, and as The Mountie.

The Rougeau family as a whole has been very involved in professional wrestling; Jacques is the younger brother of Raymond Rougeau, the son of Jacques Rougeau, Sr. and the nephew of Jean "Johnny" Rougeau, all of whom have worked as professional wrestlers and promoters of wrestling matches. Jacques's sister Johanne also promoted wrestling matches in Montreal, and brother Armand wrestled for smaller federations.

Jacques Rougeau began his career in 1977, working in Stu Hart's Calgary, Alberta based Stampede Wrestling promotion. In the 1980s he began wrestling in the United States, achieving success in Alabama and Tennessee, and in 1985 he and Ray were signed by the World Wrestling Federation.

The brothers made their WWF debuts in February 1986 during a tour of Australia. During their first year with the company they faced and defeated such duos as The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart & Jim Neidhart), The Moondogs, Jimmy Jack & Dory Funk, Jr., and The Dream Team (Greg Valentine & Brutus Beefcake).

Although they lost their match at WrestleMania III in 1987 to Valentine & Beefcake they did win the WWF Tag Team Titles later that year, albeit briefly. Jacques & Raymond upset The Hart Foundation for the titles at the Montreal Forum on August 10, 1987 but the championship was later returned since the challengers won the match after using Jimmy Hart's megaphone as a weapon. The title win was never mentioned on American TV.

After two years in the Federation, The Fabulous Rougeaus (Jacques and Raymond) turned heel participated in an angle in which the Canadian brothers were announced as "From Canada, but soon to relocate to the United States," and had an intentionally annoying entrance theme in which they sang (partly in French) about being "All-American Boys" as well as now having Jimmy Hart as their manager. They also waved tiny American flags, infuriating fans, who questioned their sincerity. According to Jacques, the widespread antipathy of American fans inspired Vince McMahon to turn them into villains. They would feud with The Hart Foundation, The Bushwhackers and The Rockers during their heel run.

Ray Rougeau retired in 1990, and Jacques departed Federation for a year before returning as The Mountie, a client of manager Jimmy Hart. The Mountie was a corrupt, taser-wielding member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who would often boast that he "Always gets his man" in the ring. The Mountie had two entrance theme songs - the first, a French horn theme meant to highlight the Canadian heritage of the character, and the second, a heel marching theme sung by Jacques entitled "I'm the Mountie."

(To be sung with a sinister glint in the eye)
I'm the Mountie,
I'm brave, I'm tough, I'm strong.
I'm the Mountie,
and I enforce the law!

You can try to run,
but you can never hide!
The Moooouuuntiiiieeee
ALWAYS gets his maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! (I always do [spoken])

The character was eventually the subject of litigation in Canada, leading to Rougeau being enjoined from performing as The Mountie in his home country. Thus, while wrestling in Canada, he was billed using only his real name and did not wear his Mountie-inspired hat and jacket to the ring, although he did retain other parts of his costume such as red shirt, black pants, and boots. The Mountie began a feud with The Big Bossman after declaring that he was the sole legitimate law enforcer in the WWF, and on August 26, 1991 he spent a night in prison (kayfabe) after Bossman defeated him in a Jailhouse Match at SummerSlam 1991. The Mountie's greatest achievement as a singles wrestler came when he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in an upset over Bret Hart, who was suffering from the flu (kayfabe). The Mountie won the IC title and then promptly lost it two days later to Rowdy Roddy Piper, in what was the shortest IC title reign in WWE history for several years.

Jacques held the WWF World Tag Team Championship on three occasions as part of The Quebecers tag team with Pierre-Carl Ouellet. The Quebecers characters were an extension of the earlier Mountie-theme, albeit with a more casual costume and an emphasis on bullying behavior. The pair (who were managed by Johnny Polo) emphasized their detachment from the earlier Mountie controversy by using a doctored version of Jacques's second Mountie theme song, entitled "We're Not The Mounties."

The Quebecers broke up at a house show held at the Montreal Forum on June 25, 1994. After a loss to The Headshrinkers, Ouellet and Polo turned on Rougeau. After a few minutes of Jacques being attacked in front of his hometown crowd, Raymond Rougeau (who by this point was an announcer for the WWF's French-language broadcasts) ran to the ring to save his brother. This angle led to Rougeau's first retirement match, which, over the next few months, was heavily promoted on WWF TV shows broadcast in the Montreal area, as well as in the local media. The match, which was held on October 21, 1994, drew a sell-out crowd of 16,843 to the Montreal Forum, and resulted in a victory for Rougeau, when he pinned Ouellet following a flying bodypress. Rougeau, who was accompanied by Raymond, used Queen's song We Are the Champions as his theme music for the night.

But as so often happens in wrestling, this retirement proved temporary. In the late 1990s, Rougeau and Ouellet went on to team again as The Amazing French Canadians in World Championship Wrestling. In 1997, Jacques joined a select few when he cleanly defeated Hulk Hogan in a singles match in the Bell Center in Montreal. Hogan insisted that he lose to Jacques, citing his deep respect for the Rougeau family. But Rougeau's pinfall victory was rarely referenced by WCW in order to protect Hogan's image. In 1998, Rougeau would return to the WWF for a final run teaming once again with Carl Ouellet in an updated version of The Quebecers. The team lasted for a few months. He and Oullet briefly united in WCW in 2000 in Lance Storm's Team Canada.

Jacques opened a professional wrestling school in the Montreal borough of Saint Leonard and also occasionally promotes shows. Every now and then, he steps back into the ring.

Jacques is a spokesman and supporter of SOS Suicide Jeunesse, an organization which offers support and information to the suicidal. In addition, he is an account executive for the Transport Pro Cam trucking company.

WCW: Mike Rotunda

Lawrence Michael (Mike) Rotunda (born March 30, 1958), also known as Captain Mike Rotundo and Irwin R. Schyster, is a former American pro wrestler. He is currently a Producer for WWE.

After graduating from Syracuse University, Rotunda started wrestling in 1981 as a fan favorite in Florida Championship Wrestling. He often teamed with his real life brother-in-law, Barry Windham. Rotunda and Windham joined the WWF as The US Express in 1984. They won the WWF World Tag Team Wrestling Championships twice, first winning them from Dick Murdoch and Adrian Adonis in January 1985. The US Express' most notable feud was with The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff, who they lost the tag titles to at WrestleMania 1. The US Express regained the belts in June 1985, but lost them two months later to Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine. Windham left the WWF soon after, and Rotunda was teamed with "Golden Boy" Dan Spivey as "The American Express," who had limited success in 1986.

Rotunda left the WWF in early 1987 and returned to Florida, where he won the NWA Florida Heavyweight Championship in March. There, he feuded with Sir Oliver Humperdink's "Shock Troops." Later in the year, Rotunda joined the National Wrestling Alliance affiliate Jim Crockett Promotions, where he lingered at mid-card level as a face before turning heel and joining Kevin Sullivan's Varsity Club, a group of wrestlers with amateur wrestling credentials. Rotunda began bickering with fellow Varsity Club member Rick Steiner, a graduate of the University of Michigan, over which of the two had a superior alma mater. This in turn led to the two arguing over which of them was the superior wrestler.

Rotunda went on to win the NWA World Television Championship from Nikita Koloff in January 1988 and subsequently gave the Florida title to Steiner. He then began a feud with Jimmy Garvin because Sullivan wanted Garvin's wife Precious. Steiner eventually left the group and began feuding with Rotunda, with the enemies trading the Television Championship before Rotunda lost the title to Sting.

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Dan Spivey joined the Varsity Club in late 1988, and Rotunda teamed with Williams to win the NWA World Tag Team Championships from The Road Warriors. Referee Theodore Long turned heel during the match and administered a fast count, enabling Rotunda and Williams to overcome the champions. Long went on to become a manager following the controversial officiating.

In May 1989, Williams and Rotunda were stripped of their titles and Rotunda briefly left the NWA. He returned in 1990 as a face, using the maritime gimmick Captain Mike Rotundo. He formed a "crew" consisting of Abdullah the Butcher and Norman the Lunatic and feuded with Kevin Sullivan's new stable, "Sullivan's Slaughterhouse" (Cactus Jack, Buzz Sawyer, and Bam Bam Bigelow).

In mid-1990 Rotunda turned heel again and became Michael Wallstreet with Alexandra York and her computer as his manager. The partnership was a brief one, as Rotunda left the NWA for a bigger role in the WWF in early 1991.

In the WWF, Rotunda became Irwin R. Schyster (I.R.S.) and he is perhaps best known for this role. Irwin R Shyster was a heel "tax-man" gimmick (he was portrayed as a former IRS tax collector from Washington, D.C.) who harassed all of the faces and fans, urging them to pay their taxes. However, he was a sound technician in the ring - this would later see him form the team of "Money Inc." with Ted DiBiase and together the two men won the WWF World Tag Team Championships a further three times. Money Inc.'s first title reign was at the expense of The Road Warriors (by this time using their umbrella name "The Legion of Doom" in their WWF stint), making Rotunda the only tag team wrestler to defeat the Warriors twice for the World tag team belts. As "I.R.S.," Rotunda's biggest singles feud was with Razor Ramon. Rotunda was briefly part of DiBiase's "Million Dollar Corporation" before leaving the WWF for World Championship Wrestling.

Once in WCW, he played a character similar to I.R.S. known as V.K. Wallstreet (a play on Vincent Kennedy McMahon; the "V.K." was later dropped and he became known as Mister Wallstreet.) but failed to recapture his earlier success. He joined the nWo briefly at the request of DiBiase after defeating Mike Enos on an episode of Nitro, and wrestled in All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling as a member of "nWo Japan". He was soon kicked out of the group, but still declared himself to be "anti-WCW", participating as a jobber on WCW Saturday Night. In 1999 he reformed the Varsity Club with Kevin Sullivan, but it never reached the level of its prior success, partly due to nagging injuries on Rotunda's part, and was disbanded in early 2000.

Rotunda continued to wrestle primarily in Japan throughout the 1990s until he retired to run a security company with his wife (Blackjack Mulligan's daughter) in 2004.

Rotunda was rehired by WWE as a producer in 2006, and made a special appearance (as a face gimmick of Irwin R. Schyster) on the RAW Family Reunion special in October 2006 appearing along side The Million Dollar Man after Ric Flair defeated a member of the Spirit Squad.

WCW: Paul Roma

Does he look kind of like Chris Masters to anyone else?

Wrestlers name(s) Paul Roma
Billed height 5 ft 11 in (180 cm)
Billed weight 244 lb (110 kg)
Born April 29, 1960,Kensington, Kentucky
Resides Bridgeport, Connecticut
Pro Wrestling Debut 1985

Paul Roma (born Paul Centopani April 29, 1960) is a pro wrestler who is most known for his work in the WWF and WCW primarily as a tag-team wrestler alongside partners like Jim Powers, Hercules, Arn Anderson and Paul Orndorff.

In 1993 Paul Roma signed a contract with WCW and would receive his biggest push ever as he became part of the legendary Four Horsemen alongside Ric Flair and Arn Anderson (so technically they were “the Three Horsemen”). Ric Flair had returned from the WWF in early 1993 to rejoin Arn and they promised a Horsemen reunion at Smalboree. The original plan was to have former horseman Tully Blanchard return, but the negotiations between WCW and Blanchard hit a snag and Paul Roma was selected instead. The crowd was not receptive to Roma as a Horseman, he was last seen as a jobber in the WWF and not “Elite” like the Horsemen were supposed to be, which led to fans labeling this incarnation of the Horsemen as the weakest version. Roma and Arn Anderson teamed up and won the WCW World Tag Team Championship from ”Stunning” Steve Austin and ”Lord” Steven Regal (who was substituting for an injured Brian Pillman).

Roma and Anderson would only hold on to the gold for a little over a month before losing the gold to The Nasty Boys after a short and relatively uneventful title reign. After the 1993 WCW PPV Battlebowl the Horsemen Paul Roma and Arn Anderson faced the semi-regular team of Paul Orndorff and”Stunning” Steve Austin on WCW Saturday Night. During the match Roma acted very indifferent to his tag-team partner sewing the seeds to his heel turn. Next Roma teamed with Erik Watts to take on the team of Orndorff and Austin once again, this time Roma took it a step further and attacked Erik Watts before announcing that he was now teaming with Paul Orndorff.

Under the tutelage of manager Masked Assassin the team quickly began to work well together in a feud with Marcus Alexander Bagwell and 2 Cold Scorpio. After a few months as a team they targeted the then WCW World Tag-Team Championship Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan. Going into Bash at the Beach 1994 Pretty Wonderful had the advantage as both champions were suffering from injuries inflicted by the challengers on previous occasions (or so the storyline went). Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan were unable to hold off Roma and Orndorff as Pretty Wonderful left the ring with the gold. After winning the titles Pretty Wonderful was immediately challenged by the Nasty Boys but the Nasty Boys were never able to take the gold from the champions. Next Pretty Wonderful were challengedby the duo of Stars’N’Stripes (Marcus Alexander Bagwell & The Patriot) at Fall Brawl the champions retained but a week later the championship changed hands when Stars’N’Stripes got the 1-2-3. Pretty Wonderful was granted a rematch against the new champions with a match booked for Halloween Havoc, Pretty Wonderful regained the titles when Roma used one of the title belts to knock Bagwell out cold.

At Clash of the Champions XXIX Stars’N’Stripes were granted one FINAL shot at the tag-team titles, but the challengers also had to put up he Patriot’s mask on the line, if they lost he would unmask. After a controversial double pin finish Stars’N’Stripes were declared the winners and thus the champions putting the end to Pretty Wonderful’s second and final run with the gold. After the loss Roma and Orndorff went their separate ways with Roma being used as “Enhancement talent” to help build young stars.

When Roma was asked to help make WCW newcomer ”Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright look good at SuperBrawl V he refused to cooperate even going so far as to opening mocking Wright during the match and was then fired for not following the instructions.

He attempted to make a WWF comeback in late 1997 alongside a student of Mr. Fuji called Alex Roma, calling themselves the Pretty Primos. However, they only made one appearance together at a WWF house show and no contract was ever offered to the two. After failing to make it into the WWF again Roma decided to retire in 1998 and focus on other business ventures in relation to bodybuilding and wrestling.

In 2006 Paul Roma resurfaced on the wrestling scene as he was named the commissioner of the independent promotion, Connecticut Championship Wrestling, a federation which is currently closed down. He also had a “Pretty Wonderful” reunion with Paul Orndorff in Connecticut Championship Wrestling.

Paul Roma is the current IAW Heavyweight Champion, after beating Brian Costello (aka The Crippler), on July 8, 2006 at IAW Clash at the Cove VIII, in South Bend, IN.

The Great Sasuke enters the Iwate gubernatorial race! (Video) » Japan Probe:

"Great news, Iwate residents: Pro-wrestling legend The Great Sasuke wants to be your next governor:
MOROIKA — Professional wrestler and prefectural assembly member The Great Sasuke, who has stirred controversy by attending sessions by wearing an outrageous wrestling mask, has decided to run in the upcoming Iwate gubernatorial race, his aids have said.
The Great Sasuke was elected to the Iwate Prefectural Assembly in 2003 with the backing of the Liberal Party (which has since merged into the DPJ). He insisted on wearing his mask while serving in the assembly, something that clearly annoyed some of the other assembly members. LDP politicians in the assembly tried to pass a motion that would have banned members from wearing masks in the assembly hall, but their attempt failed. The people of Iwate Prefecture elected The Great Sasuke, who had campaigned using his wrestling name and wearing his mask, so it was obviously their will that he should remain The Great Sasuke while serving them in office. I don’t really know much about his politics, but how could voters not support a guy who wears a cool mask and can pull of the awesome moves shown in the video below?"

Dean Roll (born January 28, 1975), better known by his ring name Shark Boy, is an American professional wrestler who debuted with Heartland Wrestling Association and is currently working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and on the independent circuit. He is also the owner of Buckeye Pro Wrestling, and operates a professional wrestling school known as The Shark Tank. Despite his relatively poor win/loss record, he remains a solid fan favorite.

Ian Rotten helped Roll conceive the "Shark Boy" stage name, inspired by the 1995 song "I Come From the Water" by the Toadies, his theme tune. Roll has also occasionally appeared as Dean Baldwin, a gimmick in which he played an unknown member of the Baldwin acting family; Baldwin was to be seen as a nemesis for Shark Boy.

In the latter days of World Championship Wrestling, Shark Boy often competed on WCW Saturday Night.

In 2004, Shark Boy formed a comedy tag team with D-Ray 3000 for the better half of the year, until D-Ray left the company. The duo was mentioned during a video package where people impersonating Vince McMahon and Triple H "invaded" TNA to find a tape of TNA wrestlers going to "welcome" the World Wrestling Entertainment crew doing a show at Universal Studios where TNA regularly tapes. "Triple H" finds a tape, but "Vince" angrily says "This is The Best of D-Ray and Shark Boy!"

In September 2005, Shark Boy spent two weeks in India along with Sonjay Dutt and Simon Diamond. The trio of TNA employees visited several cities, promoting the debut of iMPACT! on ESPN Star Sports. On September 28 in Bhopal, a riot broke out when 1000 fans were excluded from an event after attendance exceeded expectations. None of the three TNA wrestlers were injured.

Currently, Shark Boy can be seen tagging semi-regularly with Norman Smiley. On the October 5 iMPACT! Shark Boy pinned Eric Young in a loser-leaves-TNA match.

On the February 16, 2007 edition of iMPACT! Shark Boy returned, teaming with Norman Smiley in a loss to LAX.

Shark Boy often wrestles with independent wrestling promotions all over the United States and has appeared in Main Event World League (an independent promotion ran out of Alliance, Ohio) and Reigned from February to November as the Cruiserweight Champion.

WCW: Rip Rogers

Height: 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m)
Weight: 237 lbs.
Birthday: February 14, 1955
Hometown: Seymour, Indiana, United States
Debut: 1974
Managers: Brenda Britton, Max Andrews
Other Gimmicks: Disco Kid, Hustler Rip Rogers

Rip Rogers is a former professional wrestler and was a trainer for Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Rip Rogers started wrestling in 1974. He formed the "Convertible Blondes" with Pez Whatley and Gary Royal in Angelo Poffo's ICW and won the Tag Team Titles with Royal. As with the three-member version of Demolition defending the WWF World Tag Team Championship with any two of the three members, the Convertible Blondes also used the so-called "Freebird Rule" to defend the ICW Tag Team Championship in this manner.

In 1984, he went to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)'s Jim Crockett Promotions where he formed "The Hollywood Blondes" with Ted Oates and won the National Tag Team Titles. By early 1986, he was in the Tennessee area feuding with Dutch Mantel.

In 1989, he wrestled for the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico as one of their top heels with partner Abbuda Dein.

He was back in the NWA in time for it to be renamed World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1991 and he lost several matches to Brian Pillman. His biggest win was at WCW BattleBowl in 1993 where he teamed with Road Warrior Hawk and defeated Davey Boy Smith & Stevie Ray then named Kole. By late 1991, he had left WCW for the Global Wrestling Federation where he joined The Cartel, which included Scotty Anthony, Makhan Singh and Cactus Jack. They were the top heels for several months and he created a lot of havoc while there.

After that run, he popped up here and there in the United States and finally settled in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in 1997. He teamed with Dave the Rave and formed the "Suicide Blondes" with Jason Lee. When he retired in 2000, he was named head trainer at OVW.

He was released from that position in March 2004 by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) although Rogers still currently runs the intermediate wrestling classes at OVW.

In the 1980s, Rip appeared in a music video by John Cougar Mellencamp. The two grew up in the same town of Seymour, Indiana.

Often after losing a match, Rogers would make vociferous complaints to the referee, vehemently declaring that his opponent had cheated to pick up the win. Rogers would accompany these complaints by wild gyrations, often acting out in an over-the-top manner what he was claiming his opponent had done (e.g. pulling Roger's wrestling trunks).

WCW: Big Bubba Rogers

Ring name(s) Big Bubba Rogers,Big Boss Man,The Boss,The Guardian Angel,Ray Traylor,The War Machine,The Bossman
Billed height 6 ft 7 in (201 cm)
Billed weight 312 lb (142 kg)
Born May 2, 1962,Marietta, Georgia
Died September 22, 2004
Paulding County, Georgia
Billed from The Correctional Facility in Cobb County
Trained by Mickey Henry
Pro Wrestling Debut 1985

Raymond ("Ray") Traylor (May 2, 1962 – September 22, 2004) was an American professional wrestler. He was perhaps best known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation under the ring name The Big Boss Man.

A prison guard that moonlighted as a wrestler, Traylor first debuted for the AWA then for the National Wrestling Alliance's Jim Crockett Promotions in 1986 under his given name as a jobber. After wrestling a handful of matches, booker Dusty Rhodes saw potential in him and took him off TV for a few months to be repackaged. He would re-emerge under the name Big Bubba Rogers, serving as the silent bodyguard of manager Jim Cornette. His first appearance saw him straightening his tie in response to a chair shot by Rhodes. This would lead to them feuding across the country in a precursor to "Hardcore" Battle Royales called The Bunkhouse Stampede, in which the winner of the most Battle Royales would win a $100,000 USD (kayfabe) cash prize. Bubba and Rhodes ended up tied in the number of wins at the end of the Bunkhouse Stampede Tour, leading to a 1 on 1 match to decide who got the prize. Rhodes came away victorious. He also wrestled in the Universal Wrestling Federation, where he won the UWF Heavyweight Title from his future tag team partner One Man Gang in 1987. He became well known as a big man who could move very quickly and perform many moves usually reserved for wrestlers 80-100 pounds lighter.

By 1988, Traylor had joined the World Wrestling Federation as the Big Boss Man, a character who was formerly a prison guard in Cobb County, Georgia (Traylor had actually been a jail guard for a time in that area, a fact the WWF exploited to bring in the character Nailz, a former convict who believed Traylor had wronged him). Traylor enjoyed a good deal of success in the company, first as a heel, challenging for Hulk Hogan's WWF World Championship also teaming with Akeem in the Twin Towers, and later as a face, befriending Hogan and opposing Bobby Heenan's stable of wrestlers, the Heenan Family, including a memorable encounter with Mr. Perfect at WrestleMania VII in 1991. Boss Man would go on to beat wrestlers such as Ted DiBiase, Dino Bravo, and The Mountie.

After leaving the WWF in 1993, Traylor had a brief stint in All Japan Pro Wrestling before returning to the United States to work for World Championship Wrestling. Traylor was originally known as The Boss, but the WWF legal department determined the character to be too similar to the one that Traylor had portrayed in the WWF and forced WCW to change it. As a result, Traylor became the Guardian Angel, a character based on the real-life Guardian Angels group. Once again, the character did not last long before Traylor returned to his original Big Bubba character.

Big Bubba was a solid mid-card heel, joining the Dungeon of Doom faction before eventually defecting to the nWo. Eventually, a loophole in Bubba's contract forced him out of the nWo (according to storylines). As a result of this, Bubba became a face once again and began competing under his real name - Ray Traylor. He frequently worked with the Steiner Brothers during this time period. This was not the most successful period of Traylor's career, as he rarely rose above the mid-card.He also appeared briefly as a suprise partner for the Rock N Roll Express vs Jim Cornette's Heavily Bodies.Cornette thinking they were still friends was incorrect as Big Bubba Rogers was successful in helping defeat Cornette and the Bodies.

Traylor died in his home from a "massive" heart attack related to years of anabolic steroid use in Paulding County, Georgia on September 22, 2004 at the age of 42.

WCW: Dennis Rodman

Dennis Keith Rodman (born May 13, 1961, in Trenton, New Jersey) is an American former professional basketball player best known for his defensive and rebounding ability, leading the National Basketball Association in rebounds per game for a record seven consecutive years and earning NBA All-Defensive First Team honors seven times. He is also well-known for his controversial antics on and off the court. He has been featured in several television and film roles.

When Rodman entered the NBA Draft in 1986, he was officially listed as 6'8" while playing one of the most physical positions in basketball at power forward. Despite often being matched at a height disadvantage, he became one of the most dominant rebounders in NBA history, and was also a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

Rodman wrestled a few matches for World Championship Wrestling and was a member of the nWo with Hulk Hogan, a friend of his. There was much controversy because Rodman was red hot due to his Bulls career, and Hogan made sure to make the most of it, sticking close to Rodman during any publicity to insure he would receive some publicity himself. His first match was at the July 1997 Bash At the Beach event where he teamed with Hogan in a loss to Lex Luger and The Giant. He skipped practice with the Bulls to wrestle, infuriating both basketball fans, and Head Coach Phil Jackson. As a result he was fined by the NBA for skipping practice. At Bash At the Beach '98, Rodman & Hogan defeated Karl Malone & Diamond Dallas Page.

On July 2, 2004 - TNA Impact: Team Canada (Petey Williams & Bobby Rude & Eric Young) defeated 3-Live Krew w/Dennis Rodman..
Rodman sat at ringside and did absolutely nothing making his appearance virtually useless.
He reportedly showed up to the taping refusing to do any of the stuff pitched to him.

Charlie Robinson

Charles Shane Robinson (born July 2, 1964) is an American professional wrestling referee. Robinson is best known for his appearances with World Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment.

While growing up, Robinson studied National Wrestling Alliance referee Tommy Young in order to hone his mannerisms as a referee. His professional wrestling career began when he joined the Pro Wrestling Federation as a photographer in 1993, supplementing his income by working as a salesman. In 1996, Robinson became a referee.

Robinson repeatedly petitioned the World Championship Wrestling professional wrestling promotion for a job, and in 1998 he was given a tryout match, refeering a dark bout between Chris Taylor and a jobber. Following the match, Robinson was signed to a contract by WCW.

In 1999, Robinson became the heel referee of the Four Horsemen, aligning himself with his childhood idol, Ric Flair. Robinson frequently favored the Horsemen in the matches he officiated, enraging Randy Savage. Savage, who had been suspended by Flair (then the WCW President), proposed a match between his girlfriend, Gorgeous George, and Robinson, with Savage to be reinstated if George defeated Robinson. The match, which marked Robinson's wrestling debut, took place at Slamboree 1999 on May 9, 1999. Robinson, dubbed "Little Naitch" (a reference to Flair's nickname, the "Nature Boy"), came to the ring in a robe similar to those worn by Flair, and mimicked Flair's mannerisms, signature strut and "wooo" catchphrase. Robinson emulated Flair throughout the match, using Flair's customary illegal tactics, but was defeated by George, who pinned him following a diving elbow drop. Robinson wrestled his second match one week later, teaming with Flair to face Randy Savage and Madusa on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro. In the course of the match, Savage delivered a botched diving elbow drop to Robinson, cracking several of his vertebrae and collapsing his lung. After undergoing treatment, Robinson returned to WCW television several weeks later, and was appointed Vice President of WCW by Flair. Flair and Robinson ruled WCW until they were unseated by Sting, with Robinson returning to his refereeing duties.

In 2000, Robinson appeared in the WCW-produced film "Ready to Rumble".

When WCW was purchased by the World Wrestling Federation in March 2001, Robinson was hired by the WWF. He debuted in the WWF as a member of The Alliance, bickering with WWF loyalist referee Jack Doan and accompanying senior WCW official Nick Patrick to ringside for his match at WWF Invasion on July 22, 2001. He refereed his first WWF match on July 2, 2001.

In 2002, the WWF was renamed "World Wrestling Entertainment", and the roster was divided between two "brands", RAW and SmackDown!. Robinson was initially assigned to RAW, but was later traded to SmackDown!, where he refereed many women's matches. On the July 1, 2004 episode of SmackDown!, Robinson was forced to wrestle Luther Reigns by General Manager Kurt Angle. However, the match was quickly stopped by Charlie Haas.

At No Mercy 2006, Robinson, who had refereed a match between Mr. Kennedy and The Undertaker, was on the end of a Tombstone Piledriver from the Undertaker after he had called for him to be disqualfied after hitting Mr. Kennedy with his United States title belt.

WCW: Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Part 6

In 2001, Jake Roberts moved to Great Britain, where he began competing for Brian Dixon's All-Star Wrestling. In December, he made his Pro Wrestling Debut for Ricky Knight's World Association of Wrestling in Lowestoft, teaming with Steve Quintain against the U.K. Pitbulls

On October 20, 2002, Jake Roberts became the NWA (UK) Hammerlock Heavyweight Champion in Maidstone, Kent, England by defeating "Vigilante" Johnny Moss. Moss defeated him for the title the next night in Ashford, Kent, England, though. In November 2002, Jake started his own wrestling promotion in the UK, called "Real Stars of Wrestling". Jake would later go on to open his own training school.

Jake's legal troubles continued, after he was accused of animal cruelty for leaving the snakes at his house unfed for several months. One python subsequently died from starvation. Jake was fined £800 and was banned from keeping animals in the U.K.

Jake would later return to action for the World Association of Wrestling and became a regular on their shows again. He would also go on to compete for the Ultimate Wrestling Alliance, owned by Paul Tyrell and Phil Powers.

In February 2004, Jake wrestled for Wrestle Zone Wrestling, who are the leading wrestling promotion in the North-east of England. Jake headlined WZW's first sellout tour of Scotland and Carlisle. The tour would bring about even more controversy to Jake's already controversial career. On the night of the first show in Dumfries, Jake got into a backstage confrontation with established UK wrestler Alex Shane. Alex, after being taunted by Jake, attacked the legendary wrestler. Alex later said that he couldn't take anymore of Jake's insults and felt it necessary to hit Jake. Jake, after a warning by then-WZW owner Gary Graham went out and faced the UK Hardcore Icon Iceman. Jake won via his patented DDT. The next night at the Lakes Court Hotel in Carlisle, Jake lost his match to Phil Powers, but on the afternoon show Jake would get his revenge, when he beat Powers in what has been described as Jake's best match this side of the Atlantic.

Amazingly, Jake was later booked by Alex Shane on an FWA show as a late replacement for Steve Corino, who had been unable to attend the show because of flight problems.

During 2004, Jake caused further controversy by entering into a relationship with a female trainee of his, with whom he lived for six months, and who later went on to become popular UK-based wrestler, Aphrodite.

Jake made a WWE appearance on March 14, 2005 on RAW, where he confronted Randy Orton, who was preparing to challenge the Undertaker at WrestleMania 21. Roberts warned Orton that facing The Undertaker, particularly at WrestleMania, could be a soul-altering experience; he then fell victim to Orton's signature "RKO," helping to fuel Orton's "Legend Killer" gimmick. He worked with the company to create a DVD retrospective of his career, which was released later that year.

Jake made an appearance on the October 19, 2006 edition of TNA iMPACT!, and announced he would referee the Monster's Ball match between Brother Runt, Abyss, Raven and Samoa Joe at Bound for Glory. He had a snake in a bag. Whether this was supposed to be Lucifer is unknown. At TNA Bound For Glory on October 22, 2006, he performed a DDT on Raven, giving Samoa Joe the win in the Monster's Ball match.

WCW: Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Part 5

His single WCW pay-per-view match was against Sting at Halloween Havoc in 1992, after picking their match via a wheel, which was inspired by the movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. There was a series of gimmick matches on the wheel, but because the wheel wasn't gimmicked, it landed on what many pundits believed was the worst option - The Coal Miner's Glove Match. However, it was the company's top-selling PPV for several years, but Jake soon left WCW after his wife gave him an ultimatum to either focus on his career or on his family. The couple would divorce not long afterwards.

Jake returned to the WWF at the Royal Rumble in 1996, as a Bible-preaching face (his new snake was named “Revelations”). Roberts claimed to be a changed man who regretted his past, although some in the industry felt he was holding religious seminars as a way to make money rather than out of genuine faith.

Roberts was pushed as a "Cinderella story" and faced Steve Austin in the final match of the King of the Ring tournament. Austin won, and as Roberts was helped to the back, Austin mocked the Snake's recital of the biblical passage John 3:16, saying "Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!". King of the Ring 96 was the Stone Cold Steve Austin story, and "Austin 3:16" became a catchphrase that helped propel Austin to the top of the WWF and pro wrestling for the next three years.

Jake feuded with Jerry "The King" Lawler, who went to great lengths to ridicule Jake's past bouts against alcoholism. Later, Roberts and Lawler both said this angle was uncomfortable for them; at one point Lawler spat real whiskey at Roberts.

Roberts was fired from the WWF in 1997 for failing to show up for work during a series of house shows, as a result of an ongoing lapse in his sobriety. He competed briefly in Mexico, where he was shaved bald by Konnan, and began appearing in the independent circuit in the U.S. and Great Britain, largely out of the view of most wrestling fans.

Jake got a high amount of Internet buzz in 1999 as a candidate to be The Undertaker's 'Higher Power'. When Vince McMahon was revealed to be the one, he specifically cited on the air the speculation over Roberts.

1999 featured two notorious incidents showcasing the depths that Roberts' drug and alcohol addiction had sunk to.

Jake was unflatteringly featured in the wrestling documentary Beyond the Mat. Throughout the film he made numerous confessions about his tragic past, including the murder of his sister and the collapse of his marriage. Amongst the more disturbing moments was Roberts reportedly smoking crack in a hotel room after a reunion with his daughter Brandy, though the act is not shown on camera. In 2005, Jake, along with others, heavily criticized the film for showing him in a negative light, complaining that the depiction of him was "not the real Jake Roberts". Roberts also claimed that director Barry Blaustein and Terry Funk lied to him about the aims of the film, telling him it was a television special on the effects of drug and alcohol abuse

Also in 1999, at a Independent PPV show entitled Heroes of Wrestling, Jake cut a rambling, incoherent promo in which he heavily slurred his words. Minutes later, he staggered toward the ring, apparently drunk, for an awkward match with Jim Neidhart, at one point even asking a hesitant female fan at ringside to fondle his pectoral muscles. During the match, when Jake's snake wriggled free from the bag, he waved the snake toward the audience while it was protruding from his crotch.

WCW: Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Part 4

Afterward, Roberts had an extremely intense feud with Randy Savage after he interrupted the Savages' wedding reception by putting a snake in one of the gift boxes at SummerSlam and later famously used a (devenomed) cobra to bite Savage's arm (the snake died after the incident, due to a toxic reaction). WWF president Jack Tunney reinstated Savage, who had lost a retirement match (to the Ultimate Warrior) earlier that year at WrestleMania VII, as an active wrestler to get revenge for the attack, and he and Roberts feuded for the next few months. Their first match was at the Tuesday In Texas pay-per-view, which saw the "Macho Man" earn a victory over Roberts, but it was Roberts who would have the last laugh as he attacked Savage after the match and slapped Savage's wife, Miss Elizabeth, in the middle of the ring. The feud would continue through the early part of 1992, and included Savage eliminating Roberts from that year's 1992 Royal Rumble match.

The feud would end on Saturday Night's Main Event, with Savage getting the duke. Roberts, livid at having lost to his arch-nemesis and having received two of Savage's patented flying elbow drops (one of which happened after the match; Savage was going for a third until officials intervened), was helped backstage and, enraged, grabbed a steel chair, saying that he was going to hit whoever came backstage first, whether it was Savage or Elizabeth. Just as he was about to swing the chair, someone stopped him. While Savage and Liz, seeing they had averted a potential tragedy, got out of dodge, Jake turned to confront The Undertaker, who distracted Roberts long enough so that Savage could hit Roberts with a chair instead.

In early 1992, Jake turned on The Undertaker, who had been his partner in the assault on Savage's wedding, thus completing the Undertaker's turn into a babyface. After an incident on The Funeral Parlor in which Roberts locked the Undertaker's hand in a casket and DDT'ed the show's host and Undertaker's manager Paul Bearer, the two continued to build momentum for their encounter at WrestleMania VIII. Roberts lost to his opponent at WrestleMania VIII and left the WWF soon after that, upset that WWF chairman Vince McMahon didn't offer him a position on the writing staff despite being promised previously. After Pat Patterson stepped down from his post on the writing staff, Vince decided that out of respect for Patterson, the spot would be left vacant. Jake felt he was not only being lied to, but also being betrayed. In response, Jake threatened to no-show WrestleMania VIII if he wasn't given a release from his contract.

Jake went on to work for World Championship Wrestling alongside his father, Grizzly Smith, where he aligned himself with The Barbarian and Cactus Jack to feud against Sting and Nikita Koloff. However, before he could officially join WCW, he had to wait almost 90 days. Jake had negotiated a major contract with Kip Allen Fry, who was running the company at that time, would earn him $4 million and give him 50 percent of all merchandise sold as opposed to the eight cents got per shirt sold in the WWF. Just a few days before his contract could officially go in to effect, Jake's old real-life adversary back in the NWA, Bill Watts took over for Kip Fry. Watts had promoted Roberts on his own merits in the Mid-South Wrestling, and disliked the snake-bearing gimmick the WWF had put on him. With Watts now in control, Jake went from making about $4 million to half a million.

WCW: Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Part 3

After successful surgery, Roberts returned and feuded with DiBiase throughout the end of 1989 into 1990, including a point where Roberts stole Dibiase's Million Dollar Belt, daring him or Virgil to reach into the canvas sack to retrive it. The culmination of their feud took place at WrestleMania VI, where in a match where the Million Dollar Belt was on the line, DiBiase gained a count-out victory over Roberts, thus regaining the non-sanctioned title. After the match, Roberts, to the delight of his fans at the packed SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, mounted an offensive against DiBiase and Virgil, and began giving away DiBiase's "money". One of the recipients was actress Mary Tyler Moore, who was seated at ringside.

Following a brief feud with Bad News Brown in the summer of 1990, Roberts feuded with "The Model" Rick Martel throughout late 1990 into early 1991, after Martel blinded Roberts (kayfabe) by spraying cologne into his eyes. Roberts went so far as to wear white contact lenses to 'prove' his blindness. After several months, the feud culminated in a match at WrestleMania VII, in which both contestents were blindfolded. The bout ended after Roberts vanquished his rival with the DDT.

In early to mid-1991, Roberts engaged in a bitter feud with Earthquake after his 450-pound body "squashed" Damien (in actuality, it was hamburger stuffed in pantyhose with a small motor to make it look like a live snake was in the bag), and then used Damien's "carcass" to make "Quakeburgers", which he fed to on-air commentator Lord Alfred Hayes.

Jake would appear on Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake's interview segment "The Barbershop" and stated that "you could do two things: Roll over and die, or get yourself a bigger snake", in which he revealed that his new snake was a larger python, a reticulated python whom he named "Lucifer"- the supposed big brother of Damien and "the devil himself."

In mid-1991 Jake Roberts turned heel once again. For weeks, he was the one the Ultimate Warrior turned to in his feud with The Undertaker. The angle involved Roberts telling the Warrior that he would have the knowledge of the dark side necessary to defeat his adversary after passing three tests, which would be shown on WWF TV in consecutive weeks. The first was to be locked inside of a coffin, repeating an incident that occurred on The Funeral Parlor (which was hosted by 'Taker's manager Paul Bearer), a few months prior. The second test had Roberts "bury" the Warrior alive in dirt and walk offscreen. The third test involved Warrior entering a room full of snakes to and having to walk through them to find "the answer" in a chest in the middle of the room. When the Warrior opened the chest, he was alarmed to find a king cobra, which (kayfabe) bit him in the face; in actuality, the snake was devenomized and in fact, never actually bit him. As Warrior "weakened" from the "effects" of the cobra's strike, Roberts was joined by The Undertaker and Paul Bearer, revealing the three were in cahoots all along with Roberts telling Warrior "Never trust a snake".

Although beautifully planned out, the two were set for what WWF hoped would be one of the hottest feuds of 1991 after SummerSlam 1991, but, due to a financial dispute that the Warrior had with the WWF around this same period, the match never materialized. Warrior was fired after the event, but WWE still struck while the iron was hot and turned a negative (losing one of their biggest stars and, with it, the money grossing potential the feud had) into a positive.

WCW: Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Parts 2

After Steamboat's recovery, the feud featured Steamboat introducing a "komodo dragon" (actually a small alligator) as his "pet" to combat the psychological effects Roberts' reptilian counterpart had on most adversaries. The feud continued with Steamboat winning most of the matches, most notably a Texas Death Match at The Big Event in Toronto, and the rematch on the October 1986, edition of Saturday Night's Main Event. Since their feud ended, both men have cited tremendous respect for one another, stating that the feud was a personal favorite for both. When asked about "The Dragon" in an interview, Roberts stated, "[Steamboat] was a great wrestler, but an even better man."

Jake also began a brief feud with Hulk Hogan, but the angle was dropped when Roberts started receiving cheers from the crowd (even though Jake was initially intended to be a heel). This was seen as bad for business considering that Hogan was the top box office draw for the WWF.

One of the more memorable moments in his career was when he had Alice Cooper in his corner during WrestleMania III in 1987. Jake's WrestleMania III opponent, The Honky Tonk Man, brutally attacked Jake with a guitar on Jake's interview segment The Snake Pit, making Roberts into a babyface. In reality, The Honky Tonk Man's guitar shot legitimately injured Jake's neck, rupturing two discs. Jake admitted in interviews that the shot was prior to the use of breakaway guitars, so when Honky clubbed him, he really got hit hard. Jake started using pain killers following the injury, which led to severe opiate addictions later in his life. The Honky Tonk Man denies that he legitimately injured Jake.

Perhaps his best-known feud was against "Ravishing" Rick Rude, who was doing a gimmick where he would select a woman from the audience to kiss after each match. Rude inadvertently chose Jake's real-life wife Cheryl, who refused the kiss; Jake rescued her before Rude could attack, although Cheryl slapped him hard enough to send Rude reeling. At another event, Rude wore a pair of tights emblazoned with a visage of Mrs. Roberts, which an irate Jake tore off, sending Rude running apparently naked from the ring when shown on TV, when those at the arena saw Rude in a thong.

The feud ended due to a reportedly real-life affair between Rude and Cheryl, though Roberts has stated that, to the best of his knowledge, there was no affair.

Next, "The Snake" engaged in a feud with André the Giant. In this storyline, Roberts used his snake to gain a psychological edge over the ophidiophobic André (who as part of the angle staged a heart attack on national television), to nullify the Giant's overwhelming size and strength advantage. Jake can claim a victory via disqualification over André after André attacked special guest referee Big John Studd at WrestleMania V. In retrospect, he views his feud with André as a compliment, citing that since André usually worked with the top guys in each territory, he believes WWE management was subliminally telling him he had the potential to be a top guy.

Shortly after his feud with André had ended, Roberts entered into a feud with "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. It was at this time that Roberts' disc problems were publically acknowledged, as DiBiase attacked Roberts after a victory over his bodyguard Virgil on WWF Superstars of Wrestling. In the attack, Roberts was "injured" by DiBiase, and needed time off to have surgery to repair the damage.

Debut May 13, 1975

Aurelian Jake Smith, Jr. (born on May 30, 1955), better known by his ring name of Jake "The Snake" Roberts, is a second-generation American professional wrestler, the son of former wrestler Grizzly Smith. Roberts is best known for his stint in the World Wrestling Federation throughout the 1980s.

Roberts was known for his promos and his dark charisma, his extensive use of psychology in his matches and for inventing the DDT finishing maneuver. He is considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers to never hold a major championship title.[citation needed]

Jake Roberts is credited with training Diamond Dallas Page and Raven, as well as teaching much about wrestling psychology to Steve Austin and The Undertaker. Roberts and fellow wrestler Vader appeared on the ABC sitcom Boy Meets World for one episode.

Roberts started his career in 1975 in the Georgia area and made his name in the NWA as part of Paul Ellering's heel stable The Legion of Doom. He feuded with Ron Garvin in the 1980s over the NWA World Television Championship.

During a match when he had his opponent in a front facelock, he slipped and fell down and his opponent fell on his head, legitimately knocking him out. From that match, he incorporated the move as his finisher, naming it the DDT. For a long time, many fans had tried to figure out what DDT had stood for, with some even believing it stood for Damien's Dinner Time, as to the fact that Jake routinely placed his pet python Damien on top of unconscious wrestlers following the (usually match-ending) DDT. Most people believe the move referenced the pesticide DDT, which was perceived by the public to be a poison during the 1980s. When at last asked what the DDT stood for, Jake famously replied, "The End".

Roberts derived his nickname from being thin and snake-like. Roberts also said that he got his nickname from Oakland Raiders quarterback Ken "The Snake" Stabler. To accentuate this, he often would slide ("slither") into and out of the ring on his belly under the bottom rope. Once he reached the WWF, Roberts would bring a huge, live python (though various snakes were used over the years, most were named "Damien", and for safety purposes, most were heavily sedated) to ringside in a canvas bag. After executing a DDT, Roberts would coil the constrictor around the opponent's neck, and the snake would slither around on top of the fallen wrestler, sometimes appearing to strangle him. It was a masterful show of kayfabe (besides the fact that numerous fellow wrestlers and commentators were legitimately ophidiophobic), as the wrestler lay twitching and sometimes foaming at the mouth with the monstrous snake appearing to squeeze the life out of him. This display of theatricality got over with professional wrestling fans when George Wells, former Canadian Football League player turned wrestler, played "victim" to Damien at WrestleMania 2. His frothing at the mouth sold the gimmick as being something lethal.

WWF - Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Roberts' first major feud was against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. Few WWF fans knew that the two were former tag team partners in the National Wrestling Alliance, as it was never acknowledged on camera. The feud began when, on a nationally televised episode of Saturday Night's Main Event in May 1986, Roberts DDT'ed Steamboat on the floor right in front of his wife, Bonnie, whom Roberts had pointed to just before delivering the blow. He later stated that he was initially against doing the angle for fear that he might seriously injure or kill Steamboat. While Vince McMahon and booker George Scott were adamant about wanting the DDT to take place on the floor, he refused until Steamboat told him that he would be able to adequately protect himself from injury. However, Roberts' fears were not unfounded: Steamboat was rendered unconscious and sustained a concussion from the force of the blow.

Billed height 6 ft 0 in (183 cm)
Billed weight 249 lb (113 kg)
Born March 1, 1969,Atlanta, Georgia
Trained by Ted Allen
Pro Wrestling Debut 1992

Scott Antol (born March 1, 1969 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American professional wrestler, best known for his appearances with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as Scotty Riggs and with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) as Scotty Anton.

Antol Pro Wrestling Debuted in 1992 using the name Scott Stud. In the early 1990s he worked for various independent promotions, including the North Georgia Wrestling Association (a WCW developmental territory), Smoky Mountain Wrestling and the United States Wrestling Association.

Antol was signed by WCW in 1995 and renamed Scotty Riggs. He formed a tag team with Marcus Bagwell known as The American Males. On the September 18, 1995 episode of WCW Monday Nitro, reigning WCW Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat ambushed the Blue Bloods, the Males' scheduled opponents, and challenged the Males to an impromptu match. Riggs and Bagwell were victorious, and held the titles until September 27, 1995 when Harlem Heat defeated them to reclaim the titles.

The American Males separated in November of 1996 when Bagwell turned heel, attacking Riggs and joining the New World Order. The former partners feuded for several months, with Bagwell normally prevailing. Riggs also formed a short-lived tag team with former Rock and Roll Express member Robert Gibson.

In October 1997, Raven began trying to recruit Antol into his Flock. On October 27, 1997 in an attempt to "persuade" Antol to join him, Raven injured Antol's eye, forcing him to wear an eyepatch. After Antol was rendered unconscious in the match he lost to Raven at the 1997 World War 3 pay-per-view on November 23, Raven decided he wanted to take possession of Antol and leave with him. They pulled Antol from the ring and Flock member Perry Saturn slung Antol over his shoulder and carried him single-handedly out of the arena as the rest of the Flock followed. Antol became a member of The Flock, and shortened his name to Riggs. Raven explained that Riggs, whose ocular disability had alienated him from society, had sought acceptance within the Flock. Antol remained within the Flock as one of Raven's lackeys until Perry Saturn defeated Raven at Fall Brawl: War Games on September 13, 1998, "freeing" the Flock.

After leaving the Flock, Antol became a narcissistic wrestler who would constantly admire his physique. The gimmick was not particularly successful, and Antol was eventually released.

Antol Pro Wrestling Debuted in ECW in 2000 as Scotty Anton, aligning with his friend Rob Van Dam. At Hardcore Heaven on May 14, 2000, Antol betrayed Van Dam, knocking him off the top rope and down to the floor, allowing Jerry Lynn to pin him, thus ending his lengthy undefeated streak. Antol then joined The Network (a heel stable led by Don Callis which claimed to represent the interests of TNN, ECW's television network), acting as a hired gun. Van Dam gained revenge at ECW Heat Wave on July 16, 2000 where he defeated Antol by Pro Wrestling Debuting his Van Terminator.

After ECW declared bankruptcy in April 2001, Antol returned to the independent circuit. He found his greatest success in Dusty Rhodes's Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling promotion, where he was a three time TCW Heavyweight Champion.

WCW: Stevie Richards

Ring name(s) Steve Richards,Stevie Richards,Big Stevie Cool,Steven Richards
Billed height 6 ft 2 in (188 cm)
Billed weight 220 lb (100 kg)
Born October 9, 1971,Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Trained by Mike Sharpe
Pro Wrestling Debut: February 25, 1992

Michael Manna (born October 9th, 1971) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its ECW brand. Best known by his ring name, Steven "Stevie" Richards, Manna has previously worked for Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and, briefly, World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

Stevie Richards was trained at Iron Mike Sharps wrestling school in Brick, New Jersey after being discovered by Dan Haney of the World Wide Wrestling Alliance based out of Colmar/Hatfield PA.

On February 25, 1992, Steven Richards had the honor of being one of the participants in the first ever ECW match, in a 20-minute time limit draw with Jimmy Jannetty.

Before the arrival of Raven in ECW, "Dancin'" Stevie Richards had a 'meta-gimmick' of mockingly adopting the persona of other wrestlers.

ECW announcer/color commentator Joey Styles frequently described the Richards character as a "clueless putz".

When it was announced that Scott Levy, then known by relatively lightweight gimmicks (ie, Scotty 'the Body' Anthony, Scotty Flamingo, and Johnny Polo), was coming to ECW, Richards began adopting and mocking those gimmicks. One of the first things Levy did in ECW in his new gimmick as Raven was thrash "Stevie Flamingo" soundly.

From that point out, Steven Richards acted as a flunkie for Raven in ECW, calling him "Boss".

After a dog collar match against The Pitbulls, which Richards lost, Stevie was thought of as a major superstar. Raven was in the locker room for most of that match.

Richards was also part of the bWo, a parody of the nWo. At one point, he hinted that he was bringing the band KISS [1] to perform. It ended up being the bWo in KISS regalia, lip-synching. This was quickly 'cleaned up' by The Sandman.

The highlight of his ECW career was perhaps participating in the main event of the first ECW pay-per-view, Barely Legal. He wrestled Terry Funk and The Sandman in a Three Way Dance to determine the number one contender to the ECW World Heavyweight Championship.

Richards would also do a telephone line for ECW under the name, Lloyd Van Buren. However, he would not wrestle under that name.

In May of 1997, Stevie suffered a neck injury so severe that he announced his retirement, before miraculously recovering and signing with WCW. Many people, especially Paul Heyman, debate the legitimacy of the injury to this day. Stevie wrestled briefly as a member of Raven's Flock but failed his physical exams and left WCW in October of the same year. Sevie commented on the Rise And Fall Of ECW DVD that Raven had told him that he was only there to be his "f*cking lackey", and that he would get him fired if he pushed for more of a larger role, knowing both would suffer for demanding more than what was above their current status.
